The full name of this Poznan Church is Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Mary Magdalene and Saint Stanislaus. Poznan Fara, or just named “Fara” is one of the greatest examples of baroque style in Poland.
Favàritx Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse on Menorca. Before it was erected in 1922 many ships wrecked on the north-east shore of this Balearic Island in Spain. The Favàritx lighthouse stands 47 meters above sea level. The lighthouse itself is 28m high, but it is built on the cliffs which fall steeply into the sea.
Amsterdam has three Red Light Districts, but the one located in the centre of the city is definitely the most famous. It is not only a place where prostitutes run their business, but also a part of the city where one can find popular coffee shops, sex-shops, cinemas, theatres, bars and dining places.
After two days of being in Sofia, we looked on the map again to see what we could still visit. Just at the end of the Vitosha Boulevard, we noticed a gigantic space that appeared to be a park, with only one large building placed in the centre. This building is known as the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.
The square was built in the 19th century after the reconstruction of Vilnius Cathedral. It is now the biggest square of Vilnius, a former area dense with public renaissance and medieval buildings. This photo of the cathedral square with the Christmas Tree was taken a day before celebrating New Year’s Eve in Vilnius a few years ago.
The Helix Bridge in Singapore; a design inspired by human DNA. This was something very difficult for me to imagine, even before I had actually seen it. This connection of science and architecture stunned me, and I felt that I would not be able to return to Berlin without capturing this rare composition.
The Church of St Anne is famous for its representation of a flamboyant and brick gothic architectural style in Lithuania. What was fascinating was that the exterior of the church had remained almost unchanged since the 15th century, when it was erected. Thanks to St Anne Church, the old town of Vilnius can potentially be signed to the UNESCO World Heritage list.
The 25 de Abril Bridge connects the city of Lisbon with the municipalities of Almada. It is the 32nd largest suspended bridge in the world. During the day, you will see that it appears as a dark red colour and it reminded me so much of the Golden Bridge in San Francisco. Just behind 25 de Abril Bridge in the municipality of Almada stands a statue of Jesus Christ – as its name emphasises – “Sanctuary of Christ The King”.
Rotes Rathaus was built in Berlin in the second part of the 19th century, in the style of High Renaissance. I found it particularly interesting that this town hall was inspired by two buildings. First, the architect was inspired by The Old Town Hall of Torn (Toruń in Poland). Second, the towers of the Rotes Rathaus are built in a similar style, as the cathedral towers of Notre-Dane de Laon in France.
There are exactly 165 canals, so the decision as to which one to capture was not so easy. The composition though was always accomplished by the presence of several boats. The boats pictured above were rather small, in comparison to the 2,500 other house boats which were all around Amsterdam.
The best time to see London City is just before the sun rises over this famous capital. It was such an unforgettable experience; waking up at 3am and wandering around several empty streets, that usually bustle with residents during daytime working hours. You could walk, breathe with ease and wait with excitement to enjoy the sun coming over the Tower Bridge.
