Favàritx Lighthouse | Menorca, Spain

Favàritx Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse on Menorca. Before it was erected in 1922 many ships wrecked on the north-east shore of this Balearic Island in Spain.

The Favàritx lighthouse stands 47 meters above sea level. The lighthouse itself is 28m high, but it is built on the cliffs which fall steeply into the sea. The light from Favàritx lighthouse flashes every 15 seconds guiding ships to safe shores.

During the day surrounding looks like a bit like from the movies on the moon. The dark rocks create an impressive “background” for the white tower of the lighthouse. The view starts to be even more impressive during the night, especially when… you can see the Milky Way spanning over the rocky coast.
