The full name of this Poznan Church is Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Mary Magdalene and Saint Stanislaus. This church named now Poznan Fara, or just named “Fara” is one of the greatest examples of baroque style in Poland.
Fara Poznańska
The Poznan Fara was rebuilt in Baroque style in the second half of the 17th century. When the church was taken over by the Jesuits. Although the Jesuit order was liquidated after 1773, the facade of this baroque building is still crowned with a sculpture of Ignacy Loyola – the founder of the order.
Fara Poznańska is known for its rich ornamentation not only of the facade but also of the church interior. One of the most important interior elements of this Roman Catholic church are the Baroque altar and organ, to which a certain legend is connected. The legend says that at the time when renovation work was underway in the church, a woman dressed in black could be seen on the balcony where the organ is located. Some people said, it was the spirit of the donor who sponsored the creation of this instrument. This spirit supposedly appears and disappears suddenly from sight of prayers even in our modern times.
