During the winter months, my mind automatically wanders to Tenerife and especially to the views from the many miradors, that is the many viewing points on the hills of the Anaga Mountains and Teide.
Here you see the view from the Anaga Mountains on the famous Las Teresitas beach – one of the few beaches with white sand on the Canary Islands. On the many coasts of Tenerife, there are rocks, cliffs or black sand beaches and this is due to the volcanic history of this island.
Las Teresitas lays north from Santa Cruz de Tenerife and is easy to reach from the main city. It is a long distance because of the breakwaters, and the waves of the Atlantic Ocean are not so imposing.
This island is perfect for beach holidays, but it is also perfect to view from a bird’s eye – especially as the sand contrasts the dark silhouettes of the mountains while the sun is setting.
Fun Fact: Did you know they shipped the sand from the Sahara desert?
