Palazzo Pubblico, is otherwise known as the “public palace”. This 19th-century building is the seat of government of San Marino, a country surrounded by Italy.
Atalis beach, also called Talis, is a pearl of southern Menorca. All Balearic Islands are known for their turquoise bays and picturesque cliffs, but it is Menorca that is Nico’s favorite photography subject.
This picture of the church of Nossa Senhora da Nazaré was taken just after sunset. The church is located on a hill above the town of Nazare. A walk “up the hill” is not the easiest if you carry kilograms of photographic equipment. However, the views from this place are so picturesque that a bit of “sport” pays off for sure.
The season for giant waves falls on the months October – March. The waves can reach up to 30 meters during this time. Although this is not recommended, giant waves can be observed from the beach called Praia do Norte.
Some photos are spontaneous captures of the moment. Others, however, can require quite a bit of planning. This photo of the Warsaw skyline with the Palace of Culture and Science as its centerpiece falls into the latter.
Öresund bridge is connecting the capital of Denmark Copenhagen and Malmö – the Swedish city. Øresund is the longest combined rail and road bridge of Europe, but this is only one of the interesting facts about it.
Porto Felgueiras Lighthouse is located on the Douro mouth, just before the river enters the Atlantic Ocean. Due to the closeness of the ocean, it often caused the waves to become enormous.
There are 16 official viewpoints in Lisbon. Whilst we walked through old parts of Portugal’s capital, we noticed particular signs “Miradouro” and the assigned titles or names of these points. Aside from these official viewpoints in Lisbon, there are dozens of cafes, bars, restaurants and even streets from which the view of the city, is simply spectacular.
Bay of Kotor is known by locals as “Boka” – “the Bay”. Now with melancholy peering, I regret that we didn’t have more time to discover other towns located around this “fiord of south” – Risan, Tivat, Perast, Prčanj or Herceg Novi. All of them together with natural surroundings, are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites.
There is only one thing better than capturing a panoramic photo of a capital with mountains in the background. What would you say it is? It’s having a restaurant on top of that building, enjoying some wine and seeing the sky light up. Sofia – Bulgaria’s capital appears to be in the perfect place for such evenings.
This was an unusual spot to capture photos of the Berlin panorama. I had a meeting with a fellow photographer, when it started pouring down with rain and after just a few moments of hesitation, we finally decided to try and take some photos to see what would happen. We made an appointment at Storkower Straße from which you can see the skyline of Berlin; with the TV Tower majestically prevailing the line of the horizon.
Montelbaanstoren is a tower in Amsterdam that sits alongside a canal named Oudeschans. This tower is over 500 years old and was built in 1516 as a part of the city walls and was originally a Watchtower; although this function was only given for 90 years. Montelbaanstoren is also famous, with due credit to a particular painter that you might be familiar with – Rembrandt. He used to reside in an area near the tower and was supposedly very keen on painting this structure.
Did you know that the architect who began the construction of the D. Luis Bridge was Gustav Eiffel? The same architect that constructed the Eiffel Tower. The interesting thing however, is that he didn’t actually finish this task. It was his apprentice, Theophile Seyrig who completed the construction.
The view in the photo above is from Christiansborg Palace, the seat of Danish Parliament. Since 2014, the central tower of Christiansborg Palace has been opened to the public. Entrance is free and since the sun was setting, we didn’t hesitate to climb up. The view was indeed stunning, as we had initially thought from the beginning. I just adore capturing bird’s eye perspective views of cities!⠀⠀⠀⠀
On the many coasts of Tenerife, there are rocks, cliffs or black sand beaches and this is due to the volcanic history of this island. Here you see the view from the Anaga Mountains on the famous Las Teresitas beach – one of the few beaches with white sand on the Canary Islands. Fun Fact: Did you know they shipped the sand from the Sahara desert?
It was funny to discover that the name “Sächsische Schweiz” comes from 17th Century. In 1766, two Swiss artists Adrian Zingg and Anton Graff joined Dresden Academy of Arts. These two artists wrote many letters comparing landscape – back then named Meissen Highlands – to their homeland. The name gained broad audience and soon enough the entire area was recognized this way.
No doubt when in Kuala Lumpur, I wanted to capture the typical skyline with The Petronas Towers during blue hour and by turning around 180° degrees – I could just enjoy this beautiful sunset. This photo was taken from one of the balconies of The Sail Building, where we stayed during our visit to Kuala Lumpur. The upper floor was a pure paradise for us – external swimming pools, a gym area and an almost 360° degree view on the cityscape.
