The National Palace of Culture (Congress Centre) in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The National Palace of Culture | Sofia, Bulgaria

After two days of being in Sofia, we looked on the map again to see what we could still visit. Just at the end of the Vitosha Boulevard, we noticed a gigantic space that appeared to be a park, with only one large building placed in the centre. This building is known as the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.

The 25 de Abril Bridge and Christ The King statue on Tagus River – Lisbon, Portugal.

The 25 de Abril Bridge and Christ The King statue | Lisbon, Portugal

The 25 de Abril Bridge connects the city of Lisbon with the municipalities of Almada. It is the 32nd largest suspended bridge in the world. During the day, you will see that it appears as a dark red colour and it reminded me so much of the Golden Bridge in San Francisco. Just behind 25 de Abril Bridge in the municipality of Almada stands a statue of Jesus Christ – as its name emphasises – “Sanctuary of Christ The King”.

Berlin Rotes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) during the night, Germany.

Rotes Rathaus | Berlin, Germany

Rotes Rathaus was built in Berlin in the second part of the 19th century, in the style of High Renaissance. I found it particularly interesting that this town hall was inspired by two buildings. First, the architect was inspired by The Old Town Hall of Torn (Toruń in Poland). Second, the towers of the Rotes Rathaus are built in a similar style, as the cathedral towers of Notre-Dane de Laon in France.

Amsterdam Keizersgracht under a bridge during the blue hour, The Netherlands.

Keizersgracht | Amsterdam, Netherlands

Keizersgracht is the name of one of the main canals in the capital of The Netherlands and in my opinion, is one of the most picturesque places to view. The picturesque effect is likely due it being the widest canal, which is in the middle of three main canals crossing Amsterdam centre. Wandering around and observing the lights of the bridge turned on during the blue hour is amazing.

An evening photo of Thessaloniki White Tower and the National Theater of Northern Greece.

White Tower and the National Theater Of Northern Greece | Thessaloniki, Greece

Some images are captured like magic – quickly and without hesitation. However, that was not the case with my photo shooting of the White Tower and the National Theater in Thessaloniki. So, I was walking up and down, trying to capture the perfect composition at the best light, which may have looked funny for an outside eye. Finally, during the blue hour, I took a photo that satisfied me – with the city lights giving this violet shade around Thessaloniki White Tower.

A daytime picture of a gate in the City Wall of Split and Diocletian’s Palace, Croatia.

City Wall | Split, Croatia

Patience is a valuable quality, especially for photographers. I say it because taking this particular photo was a real challenge – groups of people kept on entering and leaving, or just standing in front of the small souvenir shop behind the gate. Nevertheless, we had plenty of time and besides – it was a nice, warm evening. The right moment finally came and I took my photo, trying to capture the ancient atmosphere.

Photo of a colorful attraction that can be seen at the Singapore Gardens by the Bay.

Gardens By The Bay | Singapore

While visiting Singapore we were impressed by many things, but the Gardens by the Bay were the culmination of our tour. Daria and I went there during the daytime and then we waited for my favorite blue hour to take photos. The trees you see in the picture are illuminated when the sun goes down. Then the light-music show begins, with bright colors that change according to classical music pieces.

Photo of Náměstí Jiřího z Poděbrad Square in Prague, taken at night.

Jiřího z Poděbrad Square | Prague, Czech Republic

The name of the Vinohrady district of Prague literally means ‘vineyards’ in English. While nowadays this is an urban area, in the middle ages this land was covered in vineyards. On the photo you can also see the Roman Catholic Church “Nejsvětějšího Srdce Páně” or “Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord”. Another significant city sight, visible here, is the Žižkov Television Tower, adding a high-tech touch to the landscape.

A panorama view of Acropolis in Athens with Parthenon Temple.

Acropolis of Athens – panorama view with Parthenon Temple | Athens, Greece

The Acropolis view was the first one which greet us in Athens. This hill with remains of Parthenon temple is visible from almost every point of the city. The Acropolis of Athens is situated on a rock that rises around 150m above sea level. If you’ve been to the capital of Greece, you know how stunning it is to see it from anywhere, day and night.

The main street Stradun and bell tower in Dubrovnik, Croatia at night

Dubrovnik at night | Dubrovnik, Croatia

To be precise, the title should read: Dubrovnik in the very early morning because this picture was taken at exactly 4:58 am on a morning during the summer. Even at that hour of the day, you meet quite a few tourists on their way into another eventful day of their holiday. This is probably due to the high number of cruise ships which stop in the harbor of Dubrovnik.
