Interior Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ | Podgorica, Montenegro
When I entered this Cathedral, I expected golden paintings so commonly seen in old Orthodox churches. My expectations though were only slightly correct… To my own surprise, in one of the paintings, I saw illustrations of Marx, Engels, and Tito… rotting in hell. When I saw it, all the puzzles started to fit in place – I was surrounded by paintings of relatively “modern” people who had a great deal of influence on politics and history of Montenegro.
The Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ | Podgorica, Montenegro
Looking at this cathedral from the outside, I would guess that it is at least a century old. The Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica, the original name rendered: Saborni Hram Hristovog Vaskrsenja i Crkva Svetog Spasa, was accomplished only in 2013. The exterior design follows the style of the traditional Byzantine monuments such as The Cathedral of Saint Tryphon in Kotor, which would suggest that it was likely built at the same time, in the 12th Century.
Sunset Panorama | Madrid, Spain
An hour of queuing was worth the wait, for this beautiful view of the sun setting gently behind The Metropolis Building and central Madrid. This photo of The Metropolis Building and The Gran Via was taken from the rooftop bar Azotea del Circulo. This building is, in fact, a theatre and for a minimal fee, you are permitted to take an elevator to access the rooftop bar, which has a breath-taking view of the central capital of Spain.
The Royal Palace and The Plaza de la Armeria | Madrid, Spain
For this very photograph, I had to take x30 photos in total to be able to depict The Royal Palace of Madrid (Palacio Real de Madrid) without people strolling around the square, The Plaza de la Armeria. Despite the winter months, Madrid is still eagerly visited by many tourists. The climate is very much like Berlin in the late spring, which means that it is a very convenient time to visit this capital.
Spanish Literature Monument at Plaza de España | Madrid, Spain
I could not leave the Plaza de España without taking this photograph. The fountain at the feet of the sculptures was enlightened in gold which strongly contrasted the late evening along with the black night sky in Madrid. This contrast of colours and significance behind the postures creates a unique impression of what impacted the worldwide literature of the art of Cervantes.
Puerta de Alcalá – A Night shot | Madrid, Spain
While in this spot during the day, we discovered that you can capture Puerta de Alcalá in more detail from the small island in-between a pedestrian crossing. In the evening of that same day, I assembled my tripod in the best position, attempting to capture Madrid’s night life during the busy atmosphere. This definitive photograph took almost a half hour to capture.
Gran Via and The Metropolis Building in the heart of Madrid | Spain
The Gran Via in Madrid can be likened to the Spanish Broadway. The Gran Via and The Metropolis Building is presumably the most photographed location in the capital of Spain. In my photograph, I tried to capture the pace and glamour-appearance of the street. The night lights only emphasised the unique character of the architecture of The Metropolis Building.
Puerta de Alcalá | Madrid, Spain
Puerta de Alcalá is likely the first masterpiece seen if you travel via public transport from Madrid Airport to the City Centre. It reminded us of the Brandenburger Gate in Berlin and the symmetry of this building immediately caught our eyes – such a perfect subject for a city photographer! The gates were situated on the Calle de Alcalá, one of the oldest streets in the Spanish capital.
Cervantes monument in the Plaza de España | Madrid, Spain
This monument was built in the middle of Plaza de España, in the centre of Madrid on one side of the Gran Via. During the day and in the early evening, this area was crowded with tourists. In the late evening though, more locals would be passing by, so the square would be considerably quiet – perfect for shooting photos and viewing the Statue of Cervantes at a closer distance.
Crystal Palace in Buen Retiro Park | Madrid, Spain
In my photograph, you will see “Palacio de Cristal” inspired by The Crystal Palace in London, United Kingdom. It was built together with the artificial pond, a little later than other ensembles of the park and exactly in 1887. From the beginning, Crystal Palace was used to display flower species from Spain.
Puerta de Europa – Modern Architecture | Madrid, Spain
“Puerta de Europa” – the “Gates to Europe” in Spanish are also known as KIO towers. Each tower is 114m high and they are the second tallest twin towers after the “Torres de Santa Cruz.” They were both built with the initial thought of being 15 degrees at an incline, the same way they were made back in 1996. Once finished, they were the first inclined skyscrapers in the world.
Almudena Cathedral | Madrid, Spain
In order to capture the “Plaza de la Armenia” in the foreground of the “Santa María la Real de La Almudena” without people – we managed to shoot 25 photos. I was hoping to blend and then remove them later in the post-processing of all the people that were strolling around. Fortunately, this trick worked, and I have a photo of this place as I had imagined it to be – an empty area, showing the timeless majesty of this
Chalet on water in Langkawi Island Resort | Malaysia
There are 99 Islands that have created a region called “Langkawi”. It’s one of the biggest tourist destinations in Malaysia, though it is still undiscovered in comparison to Phuket, the capital of Thailand which is nearby. The “Langkawi Island Resort” was located partly on the coast and partly in the rainforest. We could in effect, leave our balcony on the turquoise water, close the door to our house and still be in the middle of the jungle with all its
The El Pilar Basilica | Zaragoza, Spain
There are so many open spaces and big squares in Zaragoza. Moreover, it’s not overcrowded, and you can find really nice angles and perspective for photographing panoramic views. The architecture of El Pilar Basilica in Zaragoza, as well as the oriental style of the city, makes you feel like in a 1001-night story but in Spain.
TV Tower seen from Storkower Straße: Tilt-Shift Photography | Berlin, Germany
I find tilt-shift photography especially efficient on photo images as this one because it lets your eyes lay on the background, recognizing the City Hall, the Cathedral, the TV Tower in Berlin and also the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel on the right. In other words, it gives you the essence of the city, captured in one picture.
Panoramic view of Singapore Marina at sunrise | Singapore
There is one peculiarity about this region of the world – the blue and golden hours are very short there. In other words, both sunset and sunrise are gone in 30 minutes. So, I had very short time in which to capture the perfect panoramic view of Singapore Marina. Regarding this particular image, I think I was very lucky taking it – after only one shot the golden light that you see was already gone.
View from the Tower of Charles Bridge | Prague, Czech Republic
Charles Bridge has two towers – one from the side of old town and one from the Mala Strana district. This one closer to the old town is open for visitors. Originally, I planned to take photos of just the bridge, but there were simply too many tourists. So, I went up hoping to have some good composition from the tower, where I would have city view and the sunset together in one shot.
Autumn photo of Berlin and the Time Blend Effect | Germany
First, I photographed the background – I captured the sun just before it went down and at the same time when the clouds were amazingly illuminated from the below. Then, half an hour later, I photographed the foreground, by shooting 7 – 8 images. At the end I used the Time Blend effect to combine images of the Storkower Straße in Berlin, taken at a different time, into a single picture.
Széchenyi Chain Bridge | Budapest, Hungary

Capturing the iconic Széchenyi Chain Bridge in Budapest during a gloomy November visit proved to be an intriguing experience. The days, short and dominated by a palette of grays, were accompanied by persistent rain and a shroud of fog, muffling the usual vibrancy of the city. Yet, this misty blanket brought with it a sort […]

Infinity pool | Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
In the Setia Sky Towers, where we rented our flat were two kinds of swimming pools. First, on the rooftop of garages, good for a middle-day swim. Second infinity pool on the last floor of the building. There we often spent our evenings just looking on the sun setting in Kuala Lumpur and later on the colorful lights of the city and Petronas Towers. Observing how television Tower is changing its color we were thinking that we are very lucky
Hala Gąsienicowa cabin – summer in the Tatra Mountains | Poland
The day was sunny and it was a pleasure to climb up, even though there were many people who were going with us. Our tour started at 1000m of altitude and ended at 2000m to Kasprowy Wierch. In two third of the way, we reached Hala Gasienicowa – a meadow in between mountains. As soon as I saw the composition of the wooden cabin with high mountain scenery I knew it was worth to carry ten kilos of camera backpack
Budapest Panorama – along the Danube River in the autumn | Hungary
I wasn’t surprised to learn that the central area of Budapest that is situated along the Danube River is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. There are many remarkable buildings there, such as the Hungarian Parliament (you can see it, glittering on the picture) or the Fisherman’s Bastion. Another golden point which you can see in this photo is Saint Stephen Basilica.
The Aljafería Palace in Zaragoza | Spain
The Aljafería Palace is the only fortified Islamic palace that dates to the middle ages. The construction works of the palace have been completed in the second half of the 11th century. Being a very well preserved place, today it serves as headquarter of the Aragonese Parliament.
St. Pierre Cathedral and the Dragon – unrevealed secret | Geneva, Switzerland
This little dragon we saw when we were visiting the St. Pierre Cathedral in Geneva. Now, this is something I definitely don’t do often – taking photos of miniature elements, instead of panoramic views or capturing large-scale images. However, as soon as I saw this wooden figurine of a small dragon, I thought it’s an interesting object for a photo.
