As you know, I always try to book a hotel with a view. In Manhattan, that was a must for me. Immense gratitude to the Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Central Park that gave us a corner room with which we could not only view Times Square but could also capture this photo of the so-called Billionaires’ Row.
This was pretty much the view we had when lying in Bed. Not going to lie; that was quite an experience. For the first time, I felt why America often seems to feel so invincible.
As for the photograph, I took it the same day I was shooting from the rooftop. Due to it being later in the evening and shooting from the room, this was a bit more challenging to capture. When shooting through glass, there is always the issue of the glass being a bit dirty and having reflections from the light. Some fancy solutions can help, but I usually go for a dark t-shirt or sweatpants that do the trick. Why carry yet another tool?
So to get this shot of the Billionaires’ Row in Manhattan, I just needed to crawl behind our TV set, pull the curtains behind me, cover the camera with my t-shirt and expose it long enough to capture all the glorious light.
