Macy’s Herald Square. Gosh, this shopping mall killed me. No, not as you might expect. Not because Daria had to go shopping for dresses.
It was just that I’m a sucker for colours. And I absolutely loved how they installed the rainbow colours for the Pride celebration at Macy’s. When we walked down Broadway and noticed Macy’s at Herald Square, I immediately thought about how I could capture it.
We passed by during the day, and during the night, and we also went inside (yes, dress shopping). The tricky thing was, like everywhere in New York City, the streets are so narrow compared to the building size. So it’s challenging to get good architecture shots when you’re on the ground.
One day we had a beautiful blue sky with just the right amount of clouds, and I went for it. I tried some panorama techniques but ultimately decided against them. This shot is a single exposure with a 14mm lens.
