The Nuremberg Castle (in German Nürnberger Burg) is one of the most prominent medieval fortifications in Germany and one could say even in Europe. Some sources say that the castle is representing the power and importance of the Holy Roman Empire and the German Nation.
This photo was literally taken from our kitchen window. We were staying in one of the Airbnb’s in Bairo Alto, which gave us a clear view of the Tagus River, 25 Abril Bridge and the Statue of Christ the King located on the opposite shores and Almada.
We found this Greek Orthodox church thanks to an app that led us around the city and helped us discover also many other such sights in Thessaloniki. Built in the 11th century, the architecture of this Thessaloniki church is of the typical for the region Macedonian style. The locals call it “the Red Church” because the entire building is made of bricks.
The entire complex of towers, gates, ramparts, etc., together with the Castle of San Giovanni and Kotor Old Town is part of UNESCO World Heritage since 1979. Unfortunately, Kotor Fortress has been damaged by several severe earthquakes but also because of erosion. If you plan to climb up St. John’s Hill in order to reach the Fortress, be very careful and watch your steps.
Kotor’s Castle of San Giovanni is one of the must-see places. That is why I wanted to capture its beauty, waiting for the moment when the sun was setting gently, illuminating the mountain with warm light. The composition would not be the same without the rain clouds, covering St. John Hill.
As a person who likes big sporting events very much, I find this marble stadium simply amazing. I guess that all fans of the Olympic games and their history, would love to see the impressive Panathenaic Stadium in Athens with their own eyes. ‘The marble stadium’ is the only one stadium in the world, built entirely of marble. It should be noted that the opening and closing ceremonies of the first modern Olympic games in 1896 were held there.
