Carrasqueira is a village belonging to the municipality of Alcácer do Sal. This Carrasqueira Palafitic pier is located only 3 kilometers from the beaches of Comporta and about 15 kilometers from Tróia. The place is still used by fishermen but is also a “hidden jam” for photographers.
A few hundred meters of the Carrasqueira Palafitic pier can be explored on foot. It was built in the 1950s and 1960s. However, the wooden palisades have survived to this day and are still in use by local fishermen. In addition to the colorful boats at the pier, you can see small storage houses that seem to be work-of-art of popular architecture.
This place is probably best visited at sunset when the coast of Tróia and Comporta is painted in the distance. At the sunset, you can feel as if time is receding and nature all around is getting ready for sleep.
