Františkovy Lázně is a SPA-town in North Bohemia not far from Karlovy Vary. We have been there more than once – after all, Nico’s family originates from this area on his grandmother’s side. She was born in the region and lived there until she needed to move at the end of World War II.
Together with the towns Karlovy Vary and Mariánské Lázně, it belongs to the golden trinity of spas in West Bohemia. We highly recommend visiting all three towns, each with its unique character. In 2021, Františkovy Lázně was inscribed with the other cities on the UNESCO World Heritage List in the “Great Spa Towns of Europe” site. Františkovy Lázně is the ideal town to gain extra strength. Just walking through the historic streets is relaxing. No one is in a hurry; there are no exhaust fumes or bustling streets. The whole day rolls by as if in slowed time- even if you don’t sit in a spa bath.
Nico took this photo a few years ago when we visited Františkovy Lázně with his family for lunch. Nico always mentions that the cuisine of this region is particularly close to him, as it reminds him of the dishes his grandmother used to cook for him. So this photo is a perfect memory for a relaxing day, exactly how you would want to remember your trip to the Spa town.
