When we’ve spent our honeymoon in 2016 on the island of Langkawi, we didn’t get much out of the amazing resort that we’ve been staying at. When we returned in 2022, we finally made up for it and went for a Mangrove tour in the Kilim Geoforest Park.
The Kilim Geoforest Park in Langkawi, Malaysia is a nature lover’s paradise. This beautiful park is made up of mangrove swamps, limestone cliffs, and pristine beaches, making it a perfect destination for exploring the great outdoors. No wonder that UNESCO lists it as an Earth Heritage.
We’ve had the luck to not only see plenty of monkeys on the riverbanks, but also a kingfisher as well as eagles flying above us. My favorite part however was when we left the Mangrove and went out into the deeper waters. Just at the transition, I took this photo. Our tour was done with two boats, so I was lucky to get the other boat right into the frame. Along with the “Kilim Geoforest Park” logo being the central piece.
Just when I did that, I noticed my phone network switched from Malaysia to Thailand. Turns out that we had been that close to Thailand – but yet again we didn’t cross it off our bucket list.
Instead, we returned to a picture-perfect white sandy beach. There we had a mocktail and celebrated a day well spent in the Mangrove forest. I highly recommend it!
