Praia da Rainha, translated – The Queen’s Beach, is the smallest beach in Cascais, and most definitely one of the most scenic. The story tells us that the last Queen of Portugal, Queen Amelia, was so charmed by it that she proclaimed this place to be her own, hence the name.

Porto Felgueiras Lighthouse is located on the Douro mouth, just before the river enters the Atlantic Ocean. Due to the closeness of the ocean, it often caused the waves to become enormous.

Azenhas do Mar during the sunset, reminded me of images, of such Italian villages as the Cinque Terre or Positano. Though it had a great advantage over it – the area wasn’t very touristic. The often-overlooked small town in the Sintra district, seemed to be undiscovered by photographers and tourists.
