Praia da Rainha, translated – The Queen’s Beach, is the smallest beach in Cascais, and most definitely one of the most scenic. The story tells us that the last Queen of Portugal, Queen Amelia, was so charmed by it that she proclaimed this place to be her own, hence the name.
It takes just a few minutes to reach the Praia da Rainha from the centre of Cascais. The walk, even during the winter along the shore, is very pleasant. In the photo, you can see the February weather in Portugal. There are many cafes and restaurants located on the coast – each is a new occasion to enjoy some cocktail ?. Mentioning that, you can imagine that once we reached the Queen’s Beach, we experienced a very uplifting mood. Fortunately, Nico still has his “sharp eye” to capture this 50-meter Praia da Rainha, surrounded by limestones. From the platform up we could even see the harbour in Cascais, which was perfectly composed into the capture.
During the summer, the Praia da Rainha is expected to be very crowded, however, during this month of February, there were just a few people enjoying a rest there in the afternoon. So, we saw this place likely in the same way that Queen Amelia saw it – quiet and picturesque.
