Thunderstorm at Alexanderplatz | Berlin, Germany

Thunderstorm in Berlin at Alexanderplatz
Panoramic view on the lightning striking the TV Television Tower on Alexanderplatz while the Berlin Skyline is covered in a pink glowing sky.

Taking pictures of a thunderstorm has its own charm. Especially while standing on a balcony on the 19th floor, enjoying one of the best views over the Berlin skyline.

It was more of a coincidence than planned. I actually wanted to use the view to take photos of the sun when it’s setting behind the Berlin Cathedral and TV tower. Rain wasn’t announced before 11pm, so was very surprised by the clouds. Luckily the balcony was a bit sheltered, so that I could keep on shooting. When the rain became a thunderstorm, I thought for a second if I really want to stand up here on the balcony and keep shooting. But somehow my brain could not convince my heart to go back inside. The storm lasted for approximately 30 minutes and when the it passed, it left us with that wonderful pink sky.
