A lake with legends
Lago di Braies is a natural lake which was the result of a landline blocking the river Braies. The road which leads to it, is an adventure by itself, mainly because of its views. Near the entrance, there is a large parking area where you can easily find space to park even during the high season.
There are many legends about the Dolomites and a few about Lago di Braies. One of the legends tells that if you are there when the moon is full, the mountains behind the lake opens and show you a secret gateway into the underworld.
