Al Khor (as described in previous posts) has its history linked to fishing and pearl fishing. This is where nomadic families have settled for centuries. The inspiration for this stadium is therefore the bayt al sha’ar – a tent characteristic of nomadic families in Qatar. The typical design has been retained here – the tent is splashed with black stripes and colorful ‘sadu’ ornaments.
Most interestingly, this stadium is really a tent. After the 2022 FIFA World Cup™, the upper part will be folded up. Thus packed, the tent will be donated and transported to one of the economically developing countries.
