The Square of 5th October | Cascais, Portugal

The square of 5th October is the beating heart of Cascais. The name of the square comes from the revolution in 1910, when the monarchy was abolished in Portugal.

We passed Praça 5 de Outubro many times whilst running around Cascais, to capture it in the best light. The square with the Cascais old town hall, the statue of Dom Pedro I (King of Portugal in the 14th century) and Citadel just on the corner, is a strategic point in the city. From there, you can reach every significant tourist attraction within a minute’s walk.

Apart from being a crossing point for many touristic paths, Praça 5 de Outubro is a lively place with many local restaurants and bars. The beach across the street in Cascais, makes a perfect place to spend an entire day, just enjoying the sun.
