Sunset in Verona | Italy

Do you recognize this view of Verona (Italy) from St Peter’s Castle? Apart from being one of the most popular shots of the city of Verona with the Adige river, Nico has already published a similar photo.

You can see the effect of the previous photo of Verona here. What do you think of the difference? The intention of the previous photo was to present this panorama of Verona as a painting – almost as if painted with acrylic paints. This photo was also ‘touched by Nico’s brush’ and is from the same day and time. The artistic expression, however, is completely different.

We often encounter comments that photos should not be subjected to Photoshop alterations. We recently had a discussion with friends about photographers being judged harshly for adding filters or their vision to a photo. Painters, on the other hand, are admired for exactly the same artistic process only with different tools. This photo always reminds me that Nico’s type of photography is not only about documenting a place, but also about his artistic vision and capturing his own perception of a place.
