Malmö - Turning Torso Tower | Sweden

Malmö -Turning Torso - View from Öresund; Sweden

The Turning Torso in Malmo, Sweden is a neo-futuristic skyscraper and the tallest building in Scandinavia. It also has the distinction of being the first “twisted” building in the world. That’s quite a few superlatives for a structure in the Swedish town of Malmö.

This view of the Turning Torso can be seen from the Öresund Bridge. It is from this perspective that you can compare the heights of Malmö’s other buildings. Rising to the sky on the Öresund coast, Turning Torso appears monstrous (in a positive sense). For its original design, Turning Torso won the Gold Emporis Skyscraper Award in 2005; and the 10 Year Award from Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat in 2015.

Turning Torso rises 190 meters above sea level, with 54 floors and 147 apartments. On the 49th floor there is an observation point that is open to the public. On floors 50-52 are a private club, event space, reception and restaurant. And who wouldn’t want to live here at least for a short time?
