I saw this composition multiple times amongst the portfolios of my colleagues and it stood as an icon similar to another, located in Amsterdam. Keizersgracht is the name of one of the main canals in the capital of The Netherlands and in my opinion, is one of the most picturesque places to view.
Keizersgracht or the “Emperor’s Canal” was named after Emperor Maximilian of Austria. The picturesque effect is likely due it being the widest canal, which is in the middle of three main canals crossing Amsterdam centre. Wandering around and observing the lights of the bridge turned on during the blue hour is amazing.
I have visited during the month of October, but I’ve heard that in the winter months, sailing in this canal is forbidden.
And why? One could ask…
To not break the ice – someone from Amsterdam could answer.
What is the purpose of it? To be able to ice skate!
And even if I’m not a huge fan of ice-skating (as I like to have my feet stable on the ground), I can imagine it’s a lot of fun to ice-skate through the middle of Amsterdam.
Get it On Your Wall
My goal is always to create the best possible and most exciting photos to do justice to the places where they’ve been taken.
Maybe this place evokes some good memory for you?
Or it's a place which you always dreamed to be one day?
I wish a high-quality print of my photo will bring you a feeling of being there at any time!
