Hala Stulecia Fountain | Wroclaw, Poland

Hala Stulecia multimedia fountain illuminated in front of the Centennial Hall in Wroclaw
Hala Stulecia Fountain

The Hala Stulecia Fountain is a large multimedia fountain in Wroclaw, Poland, that combines choreographed water jets, colored lighting, and music right in front of the historic Centennial Hall.

The fountain is spread across roughly one hectare and it is regularly described as the largest fountain of its kind in Poland and one of the biggest in Europe. The Hala Stulecia itself (the majestic building behind the fountain) has become a symbol of the city.

After my last Wroclaw trip, I realized that I didn’t have a photo doing the fountain justice. That realization brought me back to this very old photo of mine, which must have been taken in the first one or two years of me doing photography.

Take the photo before lightning strikes (literally)

I really wanted a photo of the Hala Stulecia Fountain for my rotating display at home, which I always use as a trigger for my own memories. But my only option was this footage from when I was there in, I believe 2012 or 2013, because I never had the possibility to shoot there again.

It seems like after that, there was always some obstacle. Either the fountain didn’t work or the area was closed off or the hall was under construction. More recently, I learned that the fountain was literally hit by lightning in June 2026, damaging the installation!

I decided to use my current editing skills to bring this old photo back to life. And even if my camera back then had its own limitations and the technology wasn’t as developed as it is today, it’s still a pretty good shot and I am happy to have it.

The lesson remains: do not postpone the photo, you never know when you’ll have a second chance.

The Hala Stulecia as a UNESCO World Heritage site

The fountain stands in the Exhibition Grounds next to Hala Stulecia (Centennial Hall), one of Wroclaw’s most recognizable landmarks. The Hala Stulecia was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2006, thanks to its innovative structural design and its influence on public building engineering.

The Multimedia Fountain was modernized to bring water, light, and sound together in synchronized performances. Shows typically run on the hour, with simpler displays during the day and full productions in the evening (when it hasn’t been struck by lightning, at least). Seasonal themed shows are also common.

The Hala Stulecia Fountain has become one of the most visited attractions in Wroclaw, but the list of the city’s highlights doesn’t end there. Wroclaw is sometimes underrated as a destination, yet it’s full of places worth a visit and a photo. Other spots worth adding to your itinerary include Tumski Bridge, the District Court, and the market square.
