This picture of the Tumski-Bridge in Wroclaw was taken during one of our many visits to the fourth largest city of Poland. Ever since Daria studied at the university in Wroclaw, the city has a very special place in her heart and over the years I learned to love it as well. When you visit the Old City of Wroclaw you will discover many historical buildings and cultural treasures as well as a buzzing nightlife.
One of my favourite pieces of architecture is the Tumski-Bridge
Every time we are in Wroclaw, a hidden gem and underrated European city, we take a walk to the so-called „Cathedral Island“, for which this beautiful bridge has to be crossed. Records have shown that already in the 12th century a wooden structure helped the people of Wroclaw cross the river Oder in order to go to mass. Between 1888 and 1890 the spartan timber bridge was replaced by the cantilever bridge we know today. However, it is not only used to cross over to Cathedral Island, but is also playing a big part when it comes to love. Over the years many couples have affixed so-called love-locks to the bridge, hoping that their never-ending love for each other will be kept safe there.
