Leipzig‘s Central Station at Christmas in Germany looks completely different early in the morning. I went to shoot this photo on a winter morning just after 7am, when the city was still quiet and the light was soft. That time of day matters to me, especially in winter, because everything feels calmer and more honest.
I have always liked cobblestones, so I went low with the composition. I wanted to pull more detail out of the stones and let the road naturally lead toward the train station. Being closer to the ground made the scene feel more immersive, almost as if you are walking into the frame yourself.
What drew me in was how the station was framed by the street. The crisp winter air, the Christmas ornaments, and the warm golden light from the street lamps all came together naturally. I did not want the photo of Leipzig’s Central Station at Christmas to feel rushed or busy. I wanted it to feel steady and welcoming.

Standing there, I remember how warm the atmosphere felt despite the cold morning. The light reflecting off the buildings and the decorations around the station gave the whole scene a festive mood that felt quiet rather than loud. It reminded me why I enjoy photographing cities early in the day, especially during winter.
Leipzig’s Central Station at Christmas has a presence that works perfectly with this kind of light.
