The road to Buckingham Palace | United Kingdom

Can you imagine a more quintessentially British scene? While Buckingham Palace typically takes the spotlight in photographs, our stroll down the iconic central street, “The Mall”, unveiled a captivating composition adorned with British flags and the familiar sight of London‘s iconic black cabs.

Buckingham Palace

Explaining Buckingham Palace to the English hardly seems necessary. Situated in the heart of the City of Westminster, this grand edifice serves as the focal point of London’s attention, captivating both locals and visitors alike. In the possession of the monarchy for nearly 150 years, Buckingham Palace hosts prestigious ceremonies and provides a vantage point from its balconies where the royal family greets the enthusiastic crowds assembled outside.

However, on this particular day, our focus wasn’t solely on the palace itself but rather on the enchanting park that envelops it. Completely with a serene lake, these royal gardens stand as London’s largest private park. Here, the Queen hosts annual “garden parties,” and the nation commemorates anniversaries and significant achievements. It’s an ideal spot for a leisurely afternoon.

The thoroughfare that traverses this park and leads to Buckingham Palace bears the name “The Mall.” It commences at Admiralty Arch, meanders through St James’s Park, and culminates at the Victoria Memorial in the park. This route is frequented by the motorcades of visiting heads of state en route to Buckingham Palace, as well as by the royal family during state ceremonies. One can’t help but wonder which dignitary was visiting the Queen this time.
