The Trakai Island Castle is an unusual place from both historical and architectural point of view. It has been built in the 14th century as a construction with strategic importance. Not only Lithuanians but also people from other nationalities, such as the Karaim community, are part of its history.
What can I say, the scene was perfect. The water was still a bit frozen, a couple of clouds in the sky and a beautiful red-orange sunset. This cannon at Lake Tegel is a present of the London District Greenwich. Reinickendorf, the Berlin district in which the lake is located, is twinned with Greenwich. Therefore also the whole promenade is called “Greenwich-Promenade”.
How often did I walk by those two houses and how often did I think “Hey man, somehow you must compose a good shot with them”. And yet, the results so far never matched my expectations. But then it happened one evening last winter: Snow!
It never snows in London? I bet it does! But even though it might seem like it, this photo is not taken in London. Not even in England! Instead you can find this typical British phone booth at the Greenwich Promenade at Lake Tegel in Berlin. The two districts are twinned and therefore we have some typical things from London standing around here.
