A colorful boat scene in the Pearl of the Adriatic | Dubrovnik, Croatia

During our walk around the walls of Dubrovnik, I noticed that old-style boat. I realized that it perfectly fits the medieval landscape. Although it appeared to be a touristic boat, that didn’t decrease the charm of the scene. So I pointed the camera with zoom lens to that direction and I shot this photo, which reminds me more of some renaissance painting rather than a picture from a modern Croatian city.

Patience is a valuable quality, especially for photographers. I say it because taking this particular photo was a real challenge – groups of people kept on entering and leaving, or just standing in front of the small souvenir shop behind the gate. Nevertheless, we had plenty of time and besides – it was a nice, warm evening. The right moment finally came and I took my photo, trying to capture the ancient atmosphere.

Why choose this Adriatic Sea port for a holiday or vacation? Probably because of the nature – you have the Kotor Bay, surrounded by mountains which height ranges from 1000m to 1700m. Additionally, those of you, who like medieval culture and history, would really appreciate the well-preserved Kotor Old Town and the Fortifications.

Those of you, who have been to Kotor in Montenegro, would remember its well-preserved medieval constructions, which attract tourists and people of art from around the world. What can I say, same as all of them, I couldn’t resist the charm of this Adriatic Sea port. In order to catch the special beauty of Kotor Bay during the blue hour, Daria and I spent almost the entire day on the slopes of the mountain above Kotor.
