The Tróia peninsula near Setubal has become our regular destination when we want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. For the beach of Tróia to do its best job (calming our distracting thoughts) it must be empty for us. And this only happens… in winter.
We visit the Tróia peninsula quite often. Only here around Lisbon, the water is so intensely turquoise, and the sand is almost white. When we take a walk (sometimes for several hours) on the sunny beach we almost fall into a trance. After a while of seeing nothing but crystalline water and a white beach, we lose track of time and sense of where we are. Maybe that’s why we go there for the weekend when we are already at the edge of our strength and need an effective reset.
We had this view of the Serra da Arrábida from our room window – another plus of a weekend on Tróia in winter is the availability of hotels and room prices 😉
