It was our second visit in Zakopane in Poland, a hidden gem and underrated European city. We were already visiting Tatra Mountains in November 2014, when “halne” winds just started to blow. This time we wanted to see Tatra in summer and hike a bit without risk of being blown out by a wind. In August we could climb up to picks, as for example to “Kasprowy Wierch”. However not only reaching the pick astonished us, those views on the way, as this Cabin in Hala Gasienicowa were the main attraction for us.
Activities at the Tatra National Park in Poland
There are many paths to take in Tatra National Park. If you would ever decide to visit this place, I rather recommend planning hiking ahead to estimate if you’re enough fit and you have proper clothes, equipment or time. In Tatra mountains you will find all kind of trails. You can have a small easy path up to Gubałówka hill, steep climb to Giewont or dangerous passing where you must climb on chains. Climb to Kasprowy Wierch was not such hazardous way, though we started our trip in the morning and we made sure we have proper hiking shoes and clothes.
Walk to the Hala Gąsienicowa Cabin
The day was sunny and it was a pleasure to climb up, even though there were many people who were going with us. Our tour started at 1000m of altitude and ended at 2000m to Kasprowy Wierch. In two third of the way we reached Hala Gasienicowa – a meadow in between mountains. As soon as I saw the composition of the wooden cabin with high mountain scenery I knew it was worth to carry ten kilos of camera backpack with me.
