No matter where you go, London will always surprise you. Due to the Marathon, the whole city was deserted, and we could stroll through the street canyons. And just when we stumbled across a crossroads, we turned left… only to discover this view of The Shard bathed in the morning sunshine.
The Shard is another famous icon after London Eye. It is built from 11,000 glass panels, creating an area of glass that is equal to eight football pitches. This giant glasshouse during the day appeared in a navy colour, but when the early morning sun shined upon it – it was just pure gold.
The modern construction of The Shard contrasts with a typical old-style London alley, which in the early morning still sleeps in the shadow. The Shard appears to grow straight up from the street into the sky; a proud presentation of the highest building in Western Europe.
