The history of Croatian Split is extremely rich. The first Greek settlement was erected here as early as the second or third millennium BC. The city gained its splendour when Emperor Diocletian, tired of the ruling, had his palace built here. According to records of the time, Diocletian’s Palace was erected here in 305 AD.

Parts of Diocletian’s Palace are the “centre” of Split‘s old town. However, not only this sight attracts crowds of tourists, but also the Split coast itself. The Split Promenade seen in this photo is the perfect meeting place when the sun sets behind the Adriatic horizon. There are plenty of food kiosks and benches under palm trees, which encourage passersby to relax.
Part of this Split panorama is also the port. From here the ships of “Jadrolinia” depart. Thanks to them you can visit the nearby Croatian islands. However, some ships also visit more distant ports, such as Trogir or the Italian coast.
