You can think about the German government whatever you want. But when it comes to the government district it has to be appreciated as a flagship for modern architecture in Berlin. The district is still not completed; right now they again add some new buildings.
Inevitably this leads to a strong contrast with the just 10 year old Paul-Löbe-Haus on the one side and the historical Reichstag building on the other. Now, one can argue whether that combination of tradition and modernity is a harmonious blend or not. I think it is and that’s why the way along the river spree through the government district is one of my favorite places in Berlin.
