We had the opportunity to visit Ingolstadt in Bavaria, Germany during our trip to Italy via Germany. Ingolstadt, had something special about it – on the one hand it is one of the oldest cities in Bavaria, and on the other hand it is a “wealthy” city when it comes to growing companies – especially automotive ones.
In the photo, Nico captured the Old Town Hall in the center of Ingolstadt. It was probably built in the 14th century. The origins of the town itself, however, are much older. Ingolstadt is first mentioned in documents of Charlemagne in 806. In 1250, Ingolstadt was granted town status. During World War II, the city center suffered from bombing, but was quickly rebuilt.
Ingolstadt has just over 129,000 inhabitants. However, the chances for a good job are significant. It is home to one of the largest automobile companies, Audi. In addition, there are two oil refineries and the headquarters of companies: Saturn and Media-Markt.
Perhaps because of its economic importance, Ingolstadt seems like an almost perfect city. The city is clean and the buildings are in pristine condition. In the center you will find traditional Bavarian restaurants and charming cafes. Nico and I have very positive memories of our afternoon in this town.
