Night photo of Thessaloniki White Tower and the light trails along Leof. Nikis Street.

White Tower light trails | Thessaloniki, Greece

In ancient times on the place of the White Tower there has been a Byzantine fortification. In the 15th century, when the city fell under Ottoman Rule, the construction has been used as a prison and also as a place for mass executions, which explains why its name was ‘The Red Tower’ then. As soon as the Greeks were free from the Ottoman Rule in the beginning of the 20th century, they whitened the construction and gave it the name “The White Tower”, as a symbolic purification from the burden of the past.

An evening photo of Thessaloniki White Tower and the National Theater of Northern Greece.

White Tower and the National Theater Of Northern Greece | Thessaloniki, Greece

Some images are captured like magic – quickly and without hesitation. However, that was not the case with my photo shooting of the White Tower and the National Theater in Thessaloniki. So, I was walking up and down, trying to capture the perfect composition at the best light, which may have looked funny for an outside eye. Finally, during the blue hour, I took a photo that satisfied me – with the city lights giving this violet shade around Thessaloniki White Tower.

A daytime picture of a gate in the City Wall of Split and Diocletian’s Palace, Croatia.

City Wall | Split, Croatia

Patience is a valuable quality, especially for photographers. I say it because taking this particular photo was a real challenge – groups of people kept on entering and leaving, or just standing in front of the small souvenir shop behind the gate. Nevertheless, we had plenty of time and besides – it was a nice, warm evening. The right moment finally came and I took my photo, trying to capture the ancient atmosphere.

Photo of a colorful attraction that can be seen at the Singapore Gardens by the Bay.

Gardens By The Bay | Singapore

While visiting Singapore we were impressed by many things, but the Gardens by the Bay were the culmination of our tour. Daria and I went there during the daytime and then we waited for my favorite blue hour to take photos. The trees you see in the picture are illuminated when the sun goes down. Then the light-music show begins, with bright colors that change according to classical music pieces.

Night picture of Kotor Bay, taken from the Kotor Fortress.

Kotor Bay View At Night | Kotor, Montenegro

Those of you, who have been to Kotor in Montenegro, would remember its well-preserved medieval constructions, which attract tourists and people of art from around the world. What can I say, same as all of them, I couldn’t resist the charm of this Adriatic Sea port. In order to catch the special beauty of Kotor Bay during the blue hour, Daria and I spent almost the entire day on the slopes of the mountain above Kotor.

Picturesque panorama view of Monastiraki area in Athens, captured in the evening.

Evening at Monastiraki | Athens, Greece

Every time I look at this colorful image of Monastiraki area in Athens, it reminds me how charming the old town of the capital of Greece is, especially at twilight. Moreover, you can notice also the Akropolis and other important buildings there. As you can see on the picture, this neighborhood is crowded with people. One of the reasons is that it’s a major shopping district.

Prince Felipe Museum of Science, which is part of Valencia’s City Of Art And Sciences.

Sunset at Prince Felipe Museum of Science | Valencia, Spain

I took this particular image at the Valencia’s City Of Art And Sciences, while the light was mild and delicate. Surprisingly, this remarkable complex has been built in the former bed of the River Turia. It’s not only the Museum of Science you see on the photo, there are also other buildings, related to science and technology, such as the Planetarium; or to nature – like the Oceanographic park, and also to art – as the Opera house.

Most Tumski Bridge and Cathedral Island in Wroclaw, Poland

Tumski-Bridge | Wroclaw, Poland

When you visit the Old City of Wroclaw you will discover many historical buildings and cultural treasures as well as a buzzing nightlife. One of my favourite pieces of architecture is the Tumski-Bridge. Every time we are in Wroclaw we take a walk to the so-called „Cathedral Island“, for which this beautiful bridge has to be crossed.

Coffee shop in the government district of Berlin, Germany

Café in the Government District | Berlin, Germany

The government quarter in Berlin is not only home to the most important institutions of Germany, like the Bundestag and the Federal Government, but also houses a number of different architectural masterpieces. Besides the Reichstag-building and the traditional Bellevue Palace you also find various futuristic buildings, which fit nicely into the cityscape.
