I wasn’t surprised to learn that the central area of Budapest that is situated along the Danube River is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. There are many remarkable buildings there, such as the Hungarian Parliament (you can see it, glittering on the picture) or the Fisherman’s Bastion. Another golden point which you can see in this photo is Saint Stephen Basilica.

As the heavens opened up a bit and the UFO was illuminated in the orange light, it seemed to me as if I saw a version of the famous scene from the movie Independence Day – live in Bratislava. Surely, soon the first laser beams would appear across the Danube and raze the city to the ground…

The Bridge of the Slovak National Uprising (Most SNP or Nový most) is the most popular part of Bratislava’s Skyline apart from the castle. This new bridge over the Danube connects the Old Town with the district Petržalka which is located right at the Austrian border. Special about the bridge is the so called UFO which sits high up on the bridge pillars on the southern end.
