My favourite Spot | Prague, Czech Republic

This is not the first photo of this view of Prague which I will show you. And it certainly won’t be the last. What can I say, I simply love this place in the Czech Republic. This unique view of the Castle and the Charles Bridge leads you to the other side of the Vltava River. And in addition, the quiet zone in the otherwise rough water, makes all the lights look twice as nice.

This time I couldn’t let it re-shoot a photo from here either – despite Daria complaining that I should instead think of something new. But I almost missed the opportunity for this photo! Just 15 minutes earlier I was still on the other side, up on the right near the castle. Fortunately, we were able to catch a tram that took us directly, yet painfully slow, to the aforementioned location. I could catch the last light above the castle just in time, since afterwards the thick rain clouds brought a quick end to the dusk.

Some facts about Prague Castle and Charles Bridge

No matter which viewpoint you will choose the view of the Prague Castle and Charles Bridge is one of the most iconic and picturesque views in all of Europe. It is truly a breathtaking sight that should not be missed when visiting the Czech Republic.

Interestingly, the Charles Bridge was once home to a bustling market where traders would sell everything from exotic spices to wild animals. It was also the site of many public executions during the Middle Ages, which is a stark contrast to the lively atmosphere it has today. It is also one of my favourite spots to photograph in Prague.

The Prague Castle is also steeped in history, dating back to the 9th century when it was founded by Prince Bořivoj. It has served as the home of Bohemian kings, Holy Roman Emperors, and Czech presidents throughout the centuries.

If you want to see the castle and the Charles Bridge from a unique perspective, consider taking a sunset cruise down the Vltava River. You can enjoy a cold Czech beer while taking in stunning views and learning about the city’s rich history from an expert guide.

And if you’re feeling adventurous, try walking across the Charles Bridge at night when the crowds have dissipated and the bridge is beautifully lit up. Just watch out for the statues, which are said to come to life at night and cause mischief!
