Potsdamer Platz (Potsdam Square) in Berlin is one of the major road intersections in the capital of Germany. It had been destroyed during the Second World War and later during the communist regime, it was quite an abandoned place. Until the day the Berlin wall fell…
The entire complex of towers, gates, ramparts, etc., together with the Castle of San Giovanni and Kotor Old Town is part of UNESCO World Heritage since 1979. Unfortunately, Kotor Fortress has been damaged by several severe earthquakes but also because of erosion. If you plan to climb up St. John’s Hill in order to reach the Fortress, be very careful and watch your steps.
Kotor’s Castle of San Giovanni is one of the must-see places. That is why I wanted to capture its beauty, waiting for the moment when the sun was setting gently, illuminating the mountain with warm light. The composition would not be the same without the rain clouds, covering St. John Hill.
I took this bright exterior image of one of Athens’ most notable buildings in a warm, sunny day. The list of cultural and sports events, of political ceremonies and commercial shows, housed in the Zappeion Exhibition Hall in Athens is really long. Even if that’s not enough to attract your interest to this magnificent building, I recommend you to see it, while sightseeing in the city, just for its elegant, neoclassical architecture.
As the heavens opened up a bit and the UFO was illuminated in the orange light, it seemed to me as if I saw a version of the famous scene from the movie Independence Day – live in Bratislava. Surely, soon the first laser beams would appear across the Danube and raze the city to the ground…
The Wawel, residence of the Polish kings for so many centuries, was still enlightened and offered, together with the clouds, a breathtaking scene. I set up my tripod in the mud of the Vistula river bank and just as I finished shooting, the lights went off. I guess, once more I was incredibly lucky, but next time I rather wake up 10 minutes earlier.
St Sebastian (also called Sebastianskirche) in the Berlin district Gesundbrunnen was constructed in the end of 19th century. It has been more or less random that we passed it but the church was a perfect objective to try out my newest toy, the ND1000 from Haida. The increased exposure time allows for the effect that you can notice on the sky. The church serves as a calm centre in the photo, the clouds add a dynamic layer to it.
