Je bent waarschijnlijk al bekend met de vorm van dit gebouw als je ooit artikelen hebt gezien die je aanmoedigen om de hoofdstad van <a href=\"https:\/\/sumfinity.com\/nl\/travel\/qatar\/\">Qatar<\/a> &#8211; Doha &#8211; te bezoeken. Geen wonder &#8211; de architectuur van dit gebouw, een combinatie van elementen van oude islamitische architectuur en modern geometrisch ontwerp, weerspiegelt met succes de geest van de plaats.  <\/p><p>Zoals veel bezienswaardigheden in Doha is het Museum of Islamic Art een vrij modern bouwwerk. Nou ja, het Doha museum opende pas in december 2008 zijn deuren voor het publiek. Als we dit niet wisten, zouden we waarschijnlijk denken dat het MIA nog minstens een paar decennia aan de Corniche kust staat. Hoewel het museum er nieuw en goed onderhouden uitziet, verhullen de traditionele islamitische elementen misschien de ware leeftijd van het monument.   <\/p><p>De architect van het Museum voor Islamitische Kunst werd voor dit project ingehuurd toen hij al met pensioen was. I.M. Pei was toen 91 jaar oud. Nadat hij het ontwerp van dit bouwwerk op zich had genomen, begon hij 6 maanden te reizen in de Arabische landen. In die tijd verdiepte hij zich in de islamitische geschiedenis en teksten op zoek naar inspiratie voor zijn werk. Als resultaat was de Ibn Tulun Moskee in Ca\u00efro, die dateert uit de 9e eeuw, de grootste invloed op de uiteindelijke architectuur van het MIA.    <\/p><p>Het Museum van Islamitische Kunst <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mia.org.qa\/en\/about\/the-museum-building\">ligt op een kunstmatig eiland vlakbij de traditionele &#8216;dhow&#8217; haven van Qatar<\/a>. Helaas hebben we het museum zelf niet kunnen bezoeken tijdens ons verblijf in Doha, maar we hebben wel de architectuur ervan kunnen bewonderen vanaf de waterkant op verschillende momenten van de dag en de nacht. <\/p><h3>Over de foto<\/h3><p><em>&#8220;De meeste foto&#8217;s die je vindt zijn genomen in de richting van de ingang.
