Aan de ene kant hadden we in <a href=\"https:\/\/sumfinity.com\/nl\/travel\/berlijn\/\">Berlijn<\/a> familie, vrienden en een redelijk stabiel leven in een land waar we de taal en cultuur kenden. Aan de andere kant had Lissabon ons zo in de ban dat we er elk jaar de winter doorbrachten. Waarom eigenlijk?<\/p>\n<p>Dit uitzicht op de zonsopgang in Lissabon is genomen vanaf ons balkon. En als je naar de gebouwen op de voorgrond kijkt, kun je waarschijnlijk wel raden dat ons appartement met uitzicht op Lissabon of de oceaan niet het enige is. Dit betekent dat het voor ons veel makkelijker was om in deze stad een appartement te vinden voor een redelijke prijs. En Berlijn&#8230; nou ja, Berlijn is vlak, dus het is zeldzaam om een appartement te vinden waarvan de ramen niet uitkijken op andere gebouwen. We kunnen niet eens uitleggen waarom het uitzicht vanuit het raam zo belangrijk voor ons is. Misschien is het het gevoel van vrijheid dat we krijgen telkens als we zo&#x27;n zonsopgang (of zonsondergang) boven de stad zien.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lissabon staat ook bekend als de &quot;Witte Stad&quot;.<\/strong> Omdat het aan een rivier ligt, verspreidt het zonlicht zich en verlicht het de gebouwen met een bijna &quot;hemelse&quot; gloed. We geven toe dat de zon voor ons een grote reden is om in de winter uit Berlijn te ontsnappen. We zijn allebei gevoelig voor licht, of liever gezegd: het gebrek daaraan. We hebben in de loop der jaren gemerkt dat als we 30 dagen lang geen zon zien, we somber en depressief worden. Het ergste van alles was dat we niet de enigen waren \u2013 in de winter kunnen zelfs Duitse oude dames op straat je zonder reden uitschelden.<\/p>\n<p>Ten derde \u2013 en dit is waarschijnlijk de belangrijkste reden. De mensen. Portugezen zijn geweldig, hartelijk, geduldig, lief en zorgzaam voor elkaar (en dit zijn waarschijnlijk nog niet eens genoeg bijvoeglijke naamwoorden om dit volk te beschrijven). Ook al zijn we buitenlanders en spreken we nog geen vloeiend Portugees, ze hebben ons verwelkomd alsof we geen &quot;vreemden&quot; waren. Bovendien zijn we in de meer dan twee jaar dat we in Lissabon wonen misschien maar twee keer een chagrijnige Portugees tegengekomen (en we hebben er heel veel ontmoet).<\/p>\n<p>Dit zijn slechts drie van de vele redenen waarom we alles hebben laten vallen en naar Portugal zijn verhuisd. Natuurlijk kennen we ook de nadelen van het leven in Lissabon. Maar die zijn niet zo groot dat we spijt hebben van onze verhuizing. Van onze Portugese vrienden hebben we ook een paar belangrijke houdingen en een bepaald gezegde geleerd. Als er iets gebeurt wat we niet zo leuk vinden, zeggen we gewoon &quot;het is wat het is&quot;.
