Tot ziens, Berlijn! Nee, maak je geen zorgen, ik ben niet van plan om deze stad binnenkort te verlaten. Maar de combinatie van tegenlicht, het ICC en de Radiotoren doet me altijd denken aan uitstapjes die ik buiten Berlijn<\/a> heb gemaakt. Of ik nu met de auto over de snelweg reed of met de touringcar vanaf het centrale busstation om de hoek \u2013 vaak begon de reis hier, aan de westkant van Berlijn.<\/p>\n

Het International Congress Centrum ICC, een van de grootste ter wereld, heeft sinds 9 april zijn deuren gesloten. Om het nog een laatste keer vast te leggen, bezocht ik de omgeving van de Radiotoren vlak nadat ik in maart de zonsondergang boven het Olympiastadion<\/a> had gefotografeerd. Het is onzeker hoe lang het ICC nog verlicht zal blijven, aangezien er geen plan is voor het toekomstige gebruik ervan. Het staat echter vast dat het niet meer voor zijn oorspronkelijke doel zal worden gebruikt.<\/p>\n

De Radiotoren, die 368 meter hoog is, is het hoogste bouwwerk van Duitsland en het op drie na hoogste vrijstaande bouwwerk van Europa. Hij werd gebouwd tussen 1965 en 1969 en wordt gebruikt voor het uitzenden van FM- en tv-signalen, maar ook voor uitkijkplatforms en restaurants.<\/p>\n

Het ICC, dat in 1979 werd geopend, werd gebouwd om grote evenementen te huisvesten, zoals conferenties, concerten en beurzen. Met zijn futuristische ontwerp werd het al snel een iconisch monument in Berlijn. Het gebouw staat echter sinds 2014 grotendeels leeg vanwege structurele problemen.<\/p>\n
