Iglesia De La Concepción | San Cristóbal De La Laguna, Spain

Iglesia de la Concepción in San Cristóbal de La Laguna (Church of the Immaculate Conception), Tenerife, Spain.

Tenerife is a full world with variety for Daria and I. Every city and every landscape differs from one another so much that sometimes we feel like being taken to another country, even though we drove just 30 km away from point A to B.

It is noteworthy that San Cristóbal de La Laguna, the previous capital of Tenerife differs distinctly from Santa Cruz. In our opinion, it is a much calmer environment, a little more historic and is a more popular destination for students. The remarkable thing is that these cities have buildings that are still identical to one other. Iglesia de la Concepción (Church of the Immaculate Conception) is almost alike to the tower of the Church of the Conception in Santa Cruz.

In La Laguna, you can climb up the Iglesia de la Concepción and see the city from above. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough of time to do this, but I can only imagine the view of the old town of La Laguna and how spectacular the view must have been from there.

An interesting story I found regarding this church was that, inside this church remains the oil of St John the Evangelist. This wouldn’t be anything miraculous, but there is a legend that during the black death in 1648, the sweat of St. John exterminated an epidemic in Tenerife.

Would you believe in this legend?
