The Champagne Bar was set up for the Berlin International Film Festival in the Sony Center at the Potsdamer Platz in Berlin. I never made it before to the Berlinale Festival, but this time I just decided to go for a walk after work to see if they had some good ideas to decorate the city. In general I can highly recommend strolling through Berlin in the time of the festival. There are some special attractions which can pep up normal photos.
Gdańsk is such a magnificent town and with all the water around one can surely get the idea to go fishing in Gdańsk. I was very lucky with the weather. The clouds caused a great sunset but no ten minutes later it started pouring. But in other ways as well, it is impossible to capture this scene a second time.
The Rynek, polish for market square, is as in most Silesian towns the centre of Świdnica. Remarkable was the variety of blooming flowers. I wanted to capture the blossom together with the architecture and the fountain serves well as a balancing weight in the middle of the hedge and the small green house.
How often did I walk by those two houses and how often did I think “Hey man, somehow you must compose a good shot with them”. And yet, the results so far never matched my expectations. But then it happened one evening last winter: Snow!
I was so focused on the reflections in the water that I actually didn’t realize it until the post-production. The picture was taken beginning of April! In the northern hemisphere that is obviously spring and not autumn. But hey, I’m not unhappy about the added colors by the leaves. They create a pleasant, autumnal mood on the Oder riverbanks.
