Cette sculpture a \u00e9t\u00e9 command\u00e9e pour c\u00e9l\u00e9brer les 200 ans de la capitale islandaise. Le projet a \u00e9t\u00e9 imagin\u00e9 d\u00e8s 1986 par l&#x27;artiste <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/J%C3%B3n_Gunnar_%C3%81rnason\">J\u00f3n Gunnar<\/a>, qui a li\u00e9 le concept du Sun Voyager \u00e0 l&#x27;histoire et \u00e0 la mythologie des Islandais.<\/p>\n<h2>Sun Voyager en Islande<\/h2>\n<p>Le Sun Voyager \u00e9tait cens\u00e9 repr\u00e9senter la promesse d&#x27;une terre inconnue, un r\u00eave d&#x27;espoir, de progr\u00e8s et de libert\u00e9. Dans une interview accord\u00e9e \u00e0 \u00dej\u00f3\u00f0viljinn, J\u00f3n Gunnar a un peu parl\u00e9 de l&#x27;histoire de sa sculpture et de l&#x27;inspiration tir\u00e9e de la l\u00e9gende sur l&#x27;origine des Islandais. D&#x27;apr\u00e8s ce r\u00e9cit, il r\u00eava un jour des origines des peuples qui s&#x27;\u00e9taient install\u00e9s en Islande. Dans ce r\u00eave, il \u00e9tait l&#x27;un de ces voyageurs intr\u00e9pides venus de Mongolie en <a href=\"https:\/\/sumfinity.com\/category\/hdr-photos\/iceland\/\">Islande<\/a> des centaines d&#x27;ann\u00e9es avant sa naissance. Ce r\u00eave s&#x27;inspirait toutefois de l&#x27;histoire vraie d&#x27;une tribu envoy\u00e9e par un grand souverain (Alexandre le Grand, par exemple) pour d\u00e9couvrir les terres o\u00f9 le soleil se l\u00e8ve, et qui s&#x27;\u00e9tait ainsi install\u00e9e en Mongolie. Au bout d\u2019un certain temps, cependant, les descendants de ces courageux guerriers, de ces belles femmes et de ces scribes ont voulu retourner dans leur patrie d\u2019origine. Ils se sont donc mis en route vers les terres o\u00f9 le soleil se couche. Apr\u00e8s avoir travers\u00e9 des montagnes, des for\u00eats, des rivi\u00e8res et des \u00eeles, ils ont finalement atteint les rives de l\u2019oc\u00e9an. Ces voyageurs intr\u00e9pides, esp\u00e9rant rejoindre leur lieu d\u2019origine, ont construit des bateaux et travers\u00e9 l\u2019oc\u00e9an. C\u2019est ainsi qu\u2019ils sont arriv\u00e9s en Islande.<\/p>\n<p>Pour comm\u00e9morer ce r\u00eave des voyageurs qui ont atteint l&#x27;Atlantique, J\u00f3n Gunnar a esquiss\u00e9 le dessin d&#x27;un bateau surgissant du granit, son m\u00e2t point\u00e9 vers le soleil couchant.
