Esta parte de Doha (la costa oeste) era puro desierto. Aqu\u00ed, donde creemos que estaba la ciudad, siempre hubo solo un pueblo cuyos habitantes se dedicaban al cultivo de perlas y a la pesca.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hoy en d\u00eda, Catar es uno de los pa\u00edses m\u00e1s ricos del mundo. En gran parte gracias a los yacimientos de gas y petr\u00f3leo que se descubrieron. Cuando visitamos Doha a principios de 2022, nos dio la impresi\u00f3n de que toda la ciudad estaba en obras debido a la Copa del Mundo de la FIFA que se celebraba en noviembre y diciembre. Solo al cabo de un tiempo nos dimos cuenta de que siempre hay alguna parte de esta ciudad en construcci\u00f3n o restauraci\u00f3n. Qatar fue el primer pa\u00eds que visitamos que es tan joven y ya est\u00e1 tan desarrollado. \u00a1Me cuesta imaginar que hace solo 70 a\u00f1os Qatar tuviera una poblaci\u00f3n de unos 14 000 habitantes y hoy cuente con m\u00e1s de 2 millones de personas!<\/p>\n<p>Volvamos al moderno centro de Doha y al horizonte de West Bay que se ve en la foto. En \u00e9l encontrar\u00e1s algunos de los rascacielos m\u00e1s famosos. La torre de Qatar Petroleum (la muy azul), la torre de Doha (la dorada), la torre Palm B, la torre Tornado (un poco m\u00e1s atr\u00e1s, con forma de&#8230; un tornado) y la torre Al Jassimya (de izquierda a derecha).
