Sie liegt direkt am Hafen und ist ein absolutes Muss f\u00fcr Besucher dieser Stadt (auch von innen).<\/p>\n<h2>Ein kunstvolles Schloss<\/h2>\n<p>Die Burg von Paphos stammt aus byzantinischer Zeit, als sie als Festung f\u00fcr die Stadt erbaut wurde. Ein Erdbeben zerst\u00f6rte sie im Jahr 1222, doch sie wurde bald darauf von <em>den Lusignans<\/em> wieder aufgebaut. Sp\u00e4ter wurde die Burg von <em>den Venezianern<\/em> abgerissen und schlie\u00dflich im 16. Jahrhundert von <em>den Osmanen<\/em> wieder aufgebaut. Die Burg diente nicht nur als Festung, sondern w\u00e4hrend der britischen Herrschaft \u00fcber die Insel auch als Gef\u00e4ngnis oder Salzlager.<\/p>\n<p>Heute dient das Schloss als Kunstzentrum. Als wir dort waren, fand gerade eine Ausstellung \u00fcber Fl\u00fcchtlinge und den Konflikt in Syrien statt. Die kalten, altert\u00fcmlichen Mauern unterstrichen die Bedeutung der Ausstellung und hinterlie\u00dfen einen bleibenden Eindruck \u2013 keine andere neutrale Wand mit zuf\u00e4lligen Kunstwerken h\u00e4tte die Erinnerung an menschliche Trag\u00f6dien st\u00e4rker vertiefen k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n<p>Als wir das <a href=\"https:\/\/sumfinity.com\/de\/fotos\/tag\/schloss-de\/\">Schloss<\/a> verlie\u00dfen, schien die Sonne, die Leute lachten, und all das l\u00f6ste in uns ein leichtes Unbehagen aus. Wir dachten, ein Spaziergang w\u00fcrde uns etwas Ruhe bringen, und da entdeckten wir diese Statue auf einem der Felsen in der Umgebung.
