Denk aber daran, dass das \u201ewahre Katar\u201c nicht nur aus modernen Wolkenkratzern besteht, sondern auch aus traditionellen Stadtvierteln wie <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Souq_Waqif\">dem Souq Waqif<\/a> \u2013 dem klassischen arabischen Markt. Dort kannst du deine Verhandlungsf\u00e4higkeiten sicher auf die Probe stellen.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Der Souq Waqif liegt im historischen Zentrum von Doha, nat\u00fcrlich im Stadtteil Al Souq. Der Markt befindet sich schon seit fast Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts an diesem Standort und gilt daher als eine der \u00e4ltesten Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten in Katars Hauptstadt. In den Anfangsjahren erstreckte er sich weiter in Richtung Ufer. So hatten H\u00e4ndler, die mit dem Boot ankamen, einen besseren Zugang zu den St\u00e4nden.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Vor fast einem Jahrhundert handelten hier Beduinen vor allem mit Vieh. Die drastischen Ver\u00e4nderungen in der Stadt und die zunehmende Ausdehnung von Doha lie\u00dfen den Souq jedoch etwas in Vergessenheit geraten und er verfallte. Auf Initiative der katarischen Regierung wurde er jedoch 2006 wieder aufgebaut und ist seitdem das pulsierende Herz der Stadt.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Das Essen hat uns in den Souq Waqif gelockt. Rund um den Markt gibt es einige hervorragende Restaurants, die Gerichte aus verschiedenen islamischen L\u00e4ndern servieren. Und wenn du dich mit lokalen Gew\u00fcrzen, Tee, S\u00fc\u00dfigkeiten, Datteln, Gold und sogar Teppichen eindecken m\u00f6chtest, vergiss nicht, dir Zeit zu nehmen, um durch die unz\u00e4hligen Gassen des Marktes zu schlendern (und denk daran: Verhandeln!)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>F\u00fcr uns war der Spaziergang durch den Souq Waqif wie eine Reise in die Vergangenheit. Wenn wir uns einen typischen arabischen M\u00e4rchenmarkt vorstellen w\u00fcrden, w\u00fcrde er genau so aussehen.
