Obwohl es in Montreal und Chicago originalgetreue Nachbildungen dieses Denkmals gibt, ist es das Denkmal vor dem Staszic-Palast, das wohl die turbulenteste Geschichte hat.<\/p>\n<h2>Kopernikus-Denkmal<\/h2>\n<p>Das Nikolaus-Kopernikus-Denkmal wurde auf Initiative des Wissenschaftlers und Philosophen Stanis\u0142aw Staszic errichtet. Einer der Legenden zufolge sollte das Denkmal urspr\u00fcnglich in Toru\u0144 aufgestellt werden. Die Idee entstand, nachdem Staszic geh\u00f6rt hatte, dass Napoleon Bonaparte \u00fcberrascht war, dass es in Toru\u0144 noch keine solche Skulptur von Kopernikus gab (der dort geboren wurde). Die Teilungen Polens und die Eingliederung von Toru\u0144 in Preu\u00dfen durchkreuzten diese Pl\u00e4ne, und schlie\u00dflich wurde das Denkmal in <a href=\"https:\/\/sumfinity.com\/de\/travelwarschau\/\">Warschau<\/a> errichtet.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Eine weitere Geschichte \u00fcber das <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nicolaus_Copernicus\">Nikolaus-Kopernikus<\/a>-Denkmal in Warschau erz\u00e4hlt, wie sich die Geistlichen weigerten, an der Enth\u00fcllung des Denkmals teilzunehmen. Warum? Weil das von Kopernikus ver\u00f6ffentlichte Werk in der Vergangenheit von Rom verurteilt und auf den Index der verbotenen B\u00fccher gesetzt worden war.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Das Nikolaus-Kopernikus-Denkmal wurde w\u00e4hrend des Zweiten Weltkriegs auch zum Streitpunkt zwischen dem polnischen Untergrund und den deutschen Besatzern. Urspr\u00fcnglich waren am Nikolaus-Kopernikus-Denkmal zwei Tafeln angebracht, auf denen lateinische und polnische Inschriften zu lesen waren: \u201eNikolaus Kopernikus, von der dankbaren Heimat\u201c und \u201eNikolaus Kopernikus, von den Landsleuten\u201c. Diese Tafeln wurden entfernt und durch deutsche Inschriften ersetzt. Zwei Jahre sp\u00e4ter, am 11. Februar 1942, entfernte Maciej Aleksy Dawidowski \u201eAlek\u201c von der Organisation f\u00fcr kleine Sabotage \u201eWawer\u201c die neuen Tafeln und versteckte sie. Nach dem Warschauer Aufstand wurde das Denkmal teilweise zerst\u00f6rt und aus Warschau entfernt.
