The Tatra Mountains are the biggest mountains in Poland with a height up to 2,499m. Zakopane is a small town at the foot of the mountains that invite tourists from all over the world. What’s especially nice about Zakopane is its location in the valley. Because of that you can climb a “hill” (Me as a Berliner, I call it a mountain) and have a stunning view on this highest part of the Carpathians.
And it was that Gubałówka Hill from which we enjoyed this amazing sunrise. We had to wake up at 4:30 and went up there in total darkness – but it was worth it! As we saw light on the horizon we noticed that it must have snowed in the Tatras during the night, because the day before there was no snow at all.
As I noticed the cloud cover on the way up it raised my hopes and I would not be disappointed. Over the course of almost one hour the colours of the sky changed from black to violet, pink, red, orange, yellow and finally to the blue hour.
In this first photo I wanted to display the scene in its entirety. There will be more photos from the colour gradient and also for the first time I took shots for a HDR-Panorama.
