I was not only amazed by the beautiful old town of Verona but also especially by the landscape around the city. Hills offer views over the city center and are at the same time a pretty sight when you’re walking along the riverbanks. The Adige River meanders through Verona and offers a welcome balance to the crowded downtown area. Since every tourist must visit the balcony of Romeo and Juliet, as well as the Arena, you often have the area along the river alone for yourself – while 300 people are standing under a two square meters sized balcony.

Since we had quite strange light on this late summer day, I had to do some post-processing. You could already admire the warm and almost colorless sky already on some of my other photos from Verona. In this shot, the river disturbed me a little bit. I didn’t have a grey filter and the broken water brought a lot of unrest in the image. In order to recreate the peaceful idyll that I experienced, I smoothed the water with a motion filter.
